A truly educational experience and a must-see for all families is the Florida Aquarium located at Garrison Seaport. Here, the journey of water from an underground source right through to its arrival at the ocean is examined. The aquarium houses approximately 4300 fish, plants and other animals including alligators, sharks and rays. Visitors can view the Florida Bays and Beaches Gallery and the Florida Wetlands Gallery which displays a cypress swamp and a river of otters. You can also experience aqua life without getting your feet wet with an interactive diving tank. Trained divers point out creatures of interest inside the tank while spectators can interact and ask questions through a two-way sound system between you and the diver. The highlight for children will be the new "Explore a Shore" zone built especially for kids. They can imagine life as Peter Pan aboard a two-story pirate ship which even lets them shoot water cannons and look through its telescope for sightings of a dolphin, shark or shipwreck. Other highlights include a four-foot wave tunnel, waterslide and play surfboards. A fun day out for all the family! |
